STATEMENT FOR PUBLIC
To Protect Evicted Persons
The Helsinki Committee for Human Rights in Bosnia and Herzegovina has recently found out that the number of displaced persons from the territory of Republika Srpska has increased, who were evicted from apartments or are expecting to be evicted by the Administration for Housing Issues of the Canton of Sarajevo.
On the other side, Ministry of Work, Social Policy, Displaced Persons and Refugees of the Canton of Sarajevo has provided no necessary accommodation to these persons, justifying it by the fact that there was no corresponding space.
It is also a fact that this category of people, of whom the majority is on the edge of the existence, have not succeeded in returning their property in Republika Srpska, because it is either destroyed or presently occupied by third persons.
The Helsinki Committee for Human Rights in Bosnia and Herzegovina deems that this category of citizens is not sufficiently protected by the competent bodies, and therefore, in this way appeals with the Ministry of Work, Social Policy, Displaced Persons and Refugees of the Canton of Sarajevo to find the best solutions for this category of people in order that they can realise the rights they are entitled to according to the existing legal regulations.
