PRESS RELEASE
Appeal to political parties and media

The Helsinki Committee for Human Rights in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Helsinki Committee for Human Rights in Republika Srpska, together with the B&H Elections NVO Coalition are appealing on the political parties and the media to comply with the Provisions of the Election Law and the Code of Behaviour of the Electronic Media in the course of the pre-election campaign.

Although the pre-election campaign has not yet started, certain public addresses by political party representatives have made us aware of the fact that there have been deviations from what has been defined as fair democratic campaign. We have already taken note of the use of hate speech, hate mongering vocabulary, and attempts at disqualifying political rivals by resorting to methods that are inappropriate for a fair campaign.

This is why we are pointing to the need for the major protagonists in this pre-election process to remain within the bounds of correct and democratic behaviour.
