Conclusions
from the extraordinary session of the Assembly
of the Helsinki Committee for Human Rights in BiH,
held on 15 February 2002
- The Assembly positively estimated the former work of
the Helsinki Committee for Human Rights in BiH, supporting
in particular the conclusions of the steering board of the
HC in BiH of 28 January 2002, at the session of which the
created situation regarding the violation of human rights
during the extradition of the «Algerian Group» was
discussed. At the same time, the Assembly again fully
supports the activities led by the competent governmental
authorities in the struggle against the international
terrorism, however, deems that it cannot be done to the
detriment of human rights.
- The Assembly unanimously accepted the introductory
speech delivered by the President of the Helsinki
Committee in BiH, Srdjan Dizdarevic as its document.
- In respect of the discussion held at the session as
well as of the need of more frequent dialogue within the
Helsinki Committee on the most topical issues of its
activities, the extraordinary session tasked the steering
board to prepare and convene regular session of the
Assembly of the Helsinki Committee for Human Rights in BiH
by 1 May this year at the latest. For that session of the
Assembly, proposals of changes and amendments to the
present Statute of the Helsinki Committee for Human Rights
in BiH should be given.
- The Assembly has tasked the steering board to
prepare, as soon as possible, a special programme for
observation of seven years work of the Helsinki Committee
for Human Rights in BiH.
- The Assembly discussed Slavo Kukic’s letter
relating to his withdrawal from the Helsinki Committee for
Human Rights in BiH. In respect to this letter, the
Assembly with objection rejected the explanation stated by
Mr. Kukic. The Assembly tasked the steering board to
consider the issue of exclusion of Slavo Kukic from the
Helsinki Committee, and suggested that further membership
of Branko Todorovic in the Helsinki Committee for Human
Rights in BiH be considered.
