Recommendation from the round-table

«Human Rights in the Light of 11 September Events»

held on 21 November 2001 in Sarajevo

 

  1. To propose to the boards and bodies of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina and to the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina to consider the issue of terrorism and protection of human rights and fundamental freedoms in Bosnia and Herzegovina, in the light of 11 September 2001 events.

  2. To encourage involvement of the civil society actors, particularly non-governmental sector, in the process of establishment of legal proposals and work of parliamentary assemblies.

  3. High level of transparency, responsibility and competence in work of legislative, judiciary and executive bodies at all the levels of authority is demanded.

  4. Normal conduct of procedures in passing the laws as a need, particularly of those relating to the protection of human rights and fundamental freedoms in Bosnia and Herzegovina was highlighted as well as avoiding passing the laws in urgent procedure.

  5. To support efforts in building of institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina that will, through their work, make the protection of human rights and freedoms in Bosnia and Herzegovina possible and efficient, in order to enable the BiH institutions to perform the functions assigned to them by the Constitution.

  6. It was emphasized that the international community in Bosnia and Herzegovina should face with the accountability for their work and higher level of transparency of their work was demanded. The mandate of the international community and actual behavior call for its transparent work and respect for international standards in the field of human rights.
