STATEMENT FOR PUBLIC

The Helsinki Committee for Human Rights in Bosnia and Herzegovina has considered, on the initiative of a number of citizens, the text of the Law on Sale of the Apartments with Tenants’ Rights.
Having considered numerous aspects of the sale of apartments with the tenants’ rights, underlining the right to ownership and right to housing, we demand that the tenants’ rights holders, in the apartments under the restitution, be protected and that the state undertakes the obligation to adequately compensate the former owners of housing units.
